Araxie Altounian holds a Médaille d'or in piano performance from the Conservatoire Régional de Val Maubuée in France, and a Ph D in Musicology from the Université Saint-Esprit de Kaslik, Lebanon.

A past member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers’ Association (1996- 2006), Araxie has twice served as president of the North York-York Region Branch, as well as coordinator of the Toronto Zone competitions. She is also a past faculty member at Euromusic Centre for Music Studies (1996 – 2013) and has served as Music Director of the Markham Music Festival (2003 – 2018).
Araxie has been active as a lecturer as well as a pianist, has several published articles and a book to her credit, has collaborated with the Music Matters (RCM newsletter for teachers), The New York Concert Review, Keghart.com and is a frequent contributor to the cultural section of TorontoHye (the Toronto Armenian monthly).
She has also given workshops for music teachers.
